South African outfit Orlando Pirates have reached an agreement to secure the services of Malian midfielder Abdoulaye Mariko this summer.
The Soweto giants are keen on bolstering their squad for the upcoming campaign following a trophyless run last term. Mariko is set to arrive in Johannesburg on Thursday to complete a move to the club.
He will undergo his mandatory medical upon his arrival before putting pen to paper. Mariko will sign a two-year contract that will keep him at Pirates until 2027.
The 23-year-old performed admirably for Malian outfit Djoliba AC, courting significant interest from several clubs, who are keen on adding him to their ranks.
He was instrumental for his outfit, who finished in the second spot at the end of the league campaign while making seven appearances in the CAF champions League.
Despite not scoring in the Champions League, the midfielder showcased glimpses of good performances.
The South African giants are now closing in on the midfielder, having already gained valuable experience playing against African football giants including Espérance and Pyramids.
