Ahmed Kendouci has taken a bold step in his career after sealing a long-term move to Swiss side FC Lugano, turning down the possibility of a return to the Egyptian Premier League.
The 24-year-old Algerian midfielder, who impressed at Ceramica Cleopatra, signed a deal with Lugano until the summer of 2028. The Egyptian club accepted the offer after recent talks, putting an end to speculation about special return clauses.
Rumors swirled about Kendouci having an agreement to return to Egypt, but a source close to the player dismissed the claims, saying: “A contract that includes a clause that allows Ceramica to obtain 20% of the resale without specifying any restrictions related to his return to the Egyptian league.”
Kendouci is now focused on making his mark in Europe and earning a starting role with the Algerian national team. He is expected to recover from injury by August or September and will immediately join training.
Kooora also confirmed that Algeria coach Vladimir Petkovic played a key part in the transfer after Lugano officials consulted him on Kendouci’s quality.
