Al Ahly take a firm stand as Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet faces heavier fine
Al Ahly have sent a strong message to their players by doubling the fine imposed on Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet after his controversial penalty decision in the Club World Cup match against Inter Miami.
Under the direction of club president Mahmoud Al-Khatib, the club raised the penalty from EGP 500,000 to EGP 1 million.
The decision came after a consultation between Al-Khatib and Sporting Director Mohamed Youssef. Trezeguet, who is one of the team’s captains, took a penalty kick that was not assigned to him. The designated takers were Wissam Abu Ali and Ahmed Mostafa Zizo.
According to Kooora Al-Khatib insisted on the tougher sanction to ensure strict discipline, especially among the team’s leaders. “The preacher demanded to double the penalty because Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet is one of the captain of the team and must be fully adhered to the regulations and regulations of the team.”
Trezeguet has since accepted the decision, apologized to the coaching staff and teammates, and promised to respect team roles going forward.
