Ousmane Dembele has downplayed the personal chase for the Ballon d’Or, stressing that team success is the true path to greatness.
The PSG winger, currently preparing with France for the summer’s major tournaments, shared insight into his and Kylian Mbappe’s mindset on the prestigious award.
“The Ballon d’Or? With Kylian, we didn’t talk about it, we don’t sleep on that,” said Dembele. “We have always said that winning collective titles was the most important if you want to win the Ballon d’Or.”
While the football world buzzes about individual brilliance, Dembele emphasized the bigger picture. He believes deep runs in top competitions and a strong season with club and country carry more weight than any personal honor.
“The key is to go to the end in the big competitions and have a great season,” he added.
Dembele, one of France’s top performers, is considered a strong contender alongside Barcelona’s teenage star Lamine Yamal. But for him, the spotlight means little without silverware.
