South African outfit Kaizer Chiefs set to part ways with left-back Bongani Sam

South African outfit Kaizer Chiefs is expected to part ways with defender Bongani Sam heading into the new campaign.

The Soweto giants are embarking on a major squad overhaul after enduring an inconsistent performance in the just ended season, where Kaizer Chiefs finished out of the top eight teams.

Despite ending their trophy drought with Cup competition triumph, Kaizer Chiefs appears not to be impressed with their entire performance, prompting a massive squad overhaul this summer.

With former Orlando Pirates duo Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane set to join Kaizer Chiefs, the club has decided to part ways with Bongani Sam after failing to impress.

The defender, who joined Kaizer Chiefs from Orlando Pirates last summer struggled in first stint with due to persistent injuries

However, the potential signing of Mako would push Sam even further down Nasreddine Nabi’s pecking order, making it unlikely he’ll be part of Kaizer Chiefs’ plans for the upcoming season.

The 27-year-old defender’s current contract with Kaizer Chiefs is expected to expire in the summer of 2027.
