The head of Al Ahly’s mission to the United States for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, Khaled Mortagy, has spoken highly of new signing Ahmed Sayed Zizo.
According to him, the Egyptian winger is a big star and will add a lot to Al Ahly’s team both on and off the pitch.
“We are in an era of professionalism, and we have enough experience to deal with stars. I wanted to sign him [Zizo] three years ago because he resembles Al Ahly and is one of the best players in Egypt. Zizo is a big star and will add a lot to Al Ahly, and Al Ahly will add a lot to him,” Khaled Mortagy said in an interview.
He added, “He confirmed to me when he came to America that he is passionate and wants to do something to make the fans happy. We choose deals based on certain qualities, not only his good level, but whether he resembles us or not, and Zizo resembles Al Ahly.
“There were many deals that were close to my heart, such as Achraf Bencharki and Imam Ashour, and I believe that the deals we signed in the current transfer window have never happened before in Al Ahly’s history.”
Zizo is expected to play an important role for Al Ahly at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Al Ahly are scheduled to face off with Inter Miami in the opening match of the tournament on Sunday, June 15.
