OFFICIAL: Dutch-Ghanaian defender Jeremie Frimpong seals move to Liverpool

Dutch defender of Ghanaian descent, Jeremie Frimpong, has completed his much-anticipated transfer to Liverpool.

The highly-rated full-back who can play in several other positions sealed his move to the English Premier League club from German side Bayer Leverkusen on Friday, May 30.

“Liverpool FC have agreed the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen.

“The Netherlands international put pen to paper on a long-term contract with the Reds at the AXA Training Centre on Friday after successfully passing a medical,” a club statement from Liverpool said on Friday.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com for the first time after completing his switch, Jeremie Frimpong shared his delight and assured fans that he will do his best for the club. “It went quite easy. Liverpool came and said they had interest, and obviously for me it was a no-brainer.

“For me, it was like, ‘Whatever you guys do, just get this done’, [speaking to] my agents: ‘Just get this done.’

“Liverpool fans, I’m going to give my all, my energy, my work-rate and hopefully we can win together, we celebrate together, get everything together.

“I’m just excited to be here. Thank you guys for accepting me and I won’t let you guys down and I’ll give you the energy that you guys want,” Frimpong said.
