The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has decided to renew the contract of Oscar Ruiz as the head of the Referees Committee.

The decision means the Colombian official will continue in his leadership role in developing the refereeing system in Egypt.

According to checks, Oscar Ruiz will return to his duties in two months as a result of his commitments to work on the Club World Cup.

While away, he will not be paid any salary by the Egyptian FA.

With a distinguished career as an international referee, Ruiz wore the FIFA badge from 1995 to 2011 and officiated at three consecutive World Cups: 2002 in South Korea and Japan, 2006 in Germany, and 2010 in South Africa.

Following his retirement, he transitioned into a role as a referee coach and later became involved with the South American Football Confederation’s Referee Assistance Programme.

The EFA’s decision to retain Ruiz signals a continued focus on elevating the standards of refereeing in Egyptian football through international expertise and structured development.
