Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi regrets missing out on MTN8 Cup after draw on final day

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has expressed his disappointment after his outfit failed to book a slot in the MTN8 Cup.

The Soweto outfit played out a pulsating goalless draw in the final South African Premier League match, preventing the team from breaking into the top eight in the league standings.

This means Kaizer Chiefs will not participate in the MTN8 Cup competition after failing to secure a top eight finish in the league.

“I think nobody can take away what this team has achieved this season. We won a cup after ten years without silverware. We regret not being in the MTN8—of course, we’d rather be there—but don’t forget, I am still building this team.”

“I am giving more opportunities for quality play. We are number two in terms of chances created, but our efficiency is lacking. If we had a quality striker, maybe we’d have finished third this season. But I’m not making a drama out of it—that’s not good.”

“Some people are not happy about Kaizer Chiefs coming back, I know that. Too many people are dissatisfied because I know I’m giving them reasons. I watched the fans’ reaction after we won the Nedbank Cup. It’s not good for some people, and some keep creating problems here, criticizing us, stirring up confusion to push the fans to attack the coach—but don’t worry about that,” he concluded.

Despite the club inconsistent performance, Kaizer Chiefs managed to end their 10-year trophy drought after defeating rivals Orlando Pirates to lift the Nedbank Cup.
