AS Monaco forward Oumar Konate will spend the rest of the season with Stade Lavallois after the two clubs agreed a loan deal, according to L’Equipe.
The 19-year-old joined Monaco from Cote d’Ivoire in the summer of 2025 and will now continue his development in Ligue 2. The agreement does not include an option to buy, meaning Monaco retain control of the player’s long-term future.
Konate is an Ivory Coast Under-20 international and made an impression during Monaco’s pre-season preparations with the first-team squad. His performances earned the confidence of the coaching staff and saw him gradually become part of the senior side’s plans.
He made his Ligue 1 debut on 23 August in Monaco’s match against Le Havre. That appearance represented a significant milestone for the young forward as he made his first appearance in France’s top flight.
Laval move intended to increase playing time
Monaco have decided that a spell away from the Principality will provide Konate with the regular football needed to continue his progress. Stade Lavallois are expected to offer him greater exposure to professional football and the opportunity to gain valuable experience in Ligue 2.
The loan comes at an early stage of Konate’s professional career, but he already has an estimated market value of 500,000 euros, according to Transfermarkt.
His time at Laval will therefore be closely followed as he looks to establish greater consistency, build up playing minutes and return to Monaco with further experience.
AS Monaco will soon play their sixth league match of the season against Toulouse.
