Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, paid a morale-boosting visit to the national U-20 football team just hours before their crucial Africa Cup of Nations semi-final showdown against Morocco, scheduled for today at the 30 June Stadium.
During his visit to the team’s training camp, Minister Sobhi met with the players and encouraged them to push for victory and secure a place in the tournament final.
He emphasised the importance of this pivotal moment in their careers.
“This is a golden opportunity for each of you to shine and pave the way toward a successful professional journey,” Sobhi told the players.
He stressed the significance of representing Egypt at such a high level, adding: “You are now representing Egypt in one of the most important stages of your career, and we are well aware that you have the fighting spirit and will that qualify you to make a difference. We believe in you and stand behind you, and we expect you to perform honourably, befitting the Egyptian flag.”
The Minister also joined the team in celebrating their qualification for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, marking Egypt’s return to the tournament after a 12-year absence.
The milestone came after a dramatic quarterfinal victory over Ghana, decided by penalties.
Sobhi hailed the achievement as a major step forward for Egyptian football, calling it a clear sign of progress and a testament to the success of the country’s youth development programs.
Kick off for the game has been scheduled at 18:00 GMT.
