Achraf Hakimi closes in on Moroccan Champions League record with Arsenal goal

Hakimi

Achraf Hakimi moved closer to making history in European football with a crucial goal against Arsenal in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final.

The Paris Saint-Germain full-back’s strike brought his personal tally in the tournament to nine goals, just one shy of Morocco’s joint all-time top scorers in the competition, Youssef En-Nesyri and Hakim Ziyech.

His latest effort didn’t just matter on the scoresheet; it brought him to the brink of becoming the most prolific Moroccan player in Champions League history. Hakimi’s attacking power and consistency continue to shine on Europe’s biggest stage.

The goal was also Morocco’s 84th overall in the tournament’s history, tracing back to the days of Hassan Aqsabi, who scored for Reims in the 1960s.

Hakimi’s name now stands among the giants of Moroccan football, and with PSG pushing for a spot in the final, the 25-year-old defender has the perfect chance to etch his name into the record books, and possibly lift his first Champions League trophy.
