Borussia Dortmund want to sign Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea this summer, but are approaching any move cautiously due to the midfielder’s history with injuries.
The Austrian-born midfielder of Nigerian descent signed for Dortmund on loan from Chelsea in the January transfer window.
Although the midfielder suffered injury setbacks when he arrived, he managed to impress Dortmund officials whenever he had the chance to play.
With Dortmund manager Niko Kovac satisfied with the performance of the player, he wants the club to sign him permanently.
It is understood that Dortmund have planned talks with Chelsea about the possibility of extending the loan deal for one year.
In addition, the club is considering triggering the purchase option in the current loan deal of Carney Chukwuemeka.
Checks have revealed that if Dortmund wants to trigger the purchase option of 35 million euros, then there is not a lot of time as it will expire on June 14.
Despite the strong interest to trigger the purchase option, it is understood that Dortmund are being reluctant due to the player’s history with injury.
