Burkinabé winger Cyriaque Irié set for Bundesliga move from Troyes to SC Freiburg

Cyriaque Irié, the Burkinabé international winger, is poised to join Bundesliga club SC Freiburg from French side Troyes.

The 19-year-old has successfully completed his medical examination in Germany, and all contractual details have been finalised.

The official announcement of the transfer is expected to be made at the conclusion of the Ligue 2 season.

The transfer fee is reported to be approximately €10 million, a decrease from initial estimates ranging between €12 million and €15 million.

Despite this reduction, Irié will become one of Freiburg’s most expensive signings, equalling the club’s record set by Baptiste Santamaria.

Dijon, his former club, is set to receive a percentage of the resale fee, potentially benefiting from the move in the future.

Born in Vavoua, Ivory Coast, Irié holds dual nationality with Burkina Faso. He began his youth career at RC Abidjan before moving to Réal du Faso.

In 2023, he joined Dijon, where he made a significant impact by scoring six goals in 25 appearances.

Following his move to Troyes, he continued to impress, netting six goals and providing two assists in 28 matches.

His performances earned him the title of Player of the Month in both September and December 2024.

Irié’s playing style is characterised by his speed, technical ability, and versatility, making him a valuable asset for Freiburg as they aim to strengthen their attacking options.

His move to the Bundesliga marks a significant step in his career, and he is expected to contribute to Freiburg’s ambitions in the upcoming season.

SC Freiburg has a strong reputation for developing young talent, and Irié’s arrival is seen as a strategic move to bolster their squad.

The club’s management is optimistic that his addition will enhance their competitiveness in the Bundesliga and European competitions.

As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Irié to see how he adapts to the challenges of German football and whether he can replicate his impressive form in France.

His potential to make an impact in the Bundesliga has generated considerable excitement among Freiburg supporters and football enthusiasts alike.
