The coach of Tanzania’s U20 national team, Mohammed Mrisho has noted that his side is heading into the 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament with a lot of confidence.
According to him, winning the CECAFA U20 Championship has given his team a lot of belief that they can succeed at the U20 AFCON.
Speaking to CAFOnline, Coach Mohammed Mrisho acknowledged that the two tournaments are different but insisted that his team can transfer the feel-good factor from the CECAFA Championship to the U20 AFCON.
“…we won the CECAFA U-20 Championship, and it has really boosted our confidence. That tournament was very competitive and helped our players believe in themselves. It allowed us to measure ourselves against strong teams in our region.
“Of course, we know the level at the U-20 AFCON is higher, with countries that have a deeper footballing infrastructure, but the CECAFA victory gave us the belief that we can compete and succeed at this level,” Coach Mohammed Mrisho Mohammed said.
Tanzania’s U20 national team will kick off their campaign at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday, April 30, when they take on South Africa at 15:00 GMT.
