Nicolas Jackson breaks goal drought as Chelsea defeat Everton; Idrissa Gana Gueye offers support

Nicolas Jackson ended a 13-match goal drought with a decisive strike against Everton, securing a vital 1-0 victory for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Senegalese forward’s goal not only boosted Chelsea’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League but also drew praise and encouragement from his international teammate, Idrissa Gana Gueye

Jackson’s goal came in the 27th minute, capitalising on a turnover and finishing confidently from the edge of the box.

This marked his first Premier League goal since December 2024, providing a much-needed boost to his confidence and Chelsea’s attacking options. Manager Enzo Maresca, celebrating his 50th game in charge while serving a touchline ban, expressed relief and support for Jackson’s breakthrough.

Before the match, Jackson reunited with his national team colleagues, including Gana Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye, in the tunnel. Gana Gueye shared a photo of the two on social media, accompanied by the caption: “Little brother, keep shining.” This gesture highlighted the camaraderie and support among the Senegalese players, reflecting the strong bond within the national team.

Reflecting on his goal, Jackson expressed satisfaction at returning to form after his injury layoff. He stated, “I’ve just come back from injury and I’m back to my best.

I was confident when I kicked the ball and it went in. I think I hit the post three times, so I’m happy to have scored and won.”

Chelsea’s victory, secured through Jackson’s first-half goal, keeps their hopes of finishing in the Premier League’s top five alive. The team remains unbeaten at home against Everton in over three decades, with this win marking their fourth clean sheet in five home games.

As the season progresses, Jackson’s return to scoring form and the continued support from his teammates, including Gana Gueye, will be crucial for Chelsea’s aspirations in both domestic and European competitions.
