AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara will be available for Sunday’s Ligue 1 visit to Lorient, coach Filipe Luis has confirmed.
The 22-year-old Senegal international was substituted before the end of Thursday’s 2-1 Conference League win against CSKA Sofia, raising concerns over his fitness. However, the Brazilian manager said at his news conference on Saturday that Camara had not suffered a serious injury and would be able to play at the Stade Yves-Allainmat.
Camara’s availability is welcome news for Monaco as they prepare for their seventh league match of the season. The midfielder has become an important part of Filipe Luis’ plans, with the coach keen to keep him at the club despite interest from elsewhere.
Chelsea pursued Camara during the summer transfer window and the player could attract further attention when the market reopens in January. Filipe Luis nevertheless wants the Senegal international to remain in his squad, placing his hopes in Camara’s continued development and distinctive qualities.
The midfielder, who was born in Diouloulou, is currently valued at €55m and remains under contract with AS Monaco until 30 June 2029. His annual salary in France is €1,380,000, equivalent to 897,000,000 FCFA.
AS Monaco’s match against FC Lorient forms part of the seventh round of the French championship. The published betting odds list Monaco as favourites at 2.06, with a draw priced at 3.50 and a Lorient victory at 3.40.
