The head coach of Egypt’s U20 national team, Osama Nabih, shared his delight on Sunday night after the team’s 1-0 victory over South Africa in their opening match at the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations at Cairo International Stadium.
Speaking in a post-match interview, coach Nabih stressed the importance of the victory, especially on the back of the recent dominance of South African teams on Egyptians teams.
He expressed gratitude to his players for fighting and giving everything for the victory against South Africa at the U20 AFCON.
“Egyptian football has recently shown negative results against South African teams, and this was a point that the players had taken into account, but I thank them for their efforts, their focus, and their victory,” coach Osama Nabih said.
Following the victory against South Africa, Egypt are top of Group A in the 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The Egyptian youth national team will be aiming to win their next two group matches against Tanzania and Sierra Leone to advance to the knockout stage.
