Chelsea have opened preliminary discussions with AC Milan over a potential summer move for forward Rafael Leão.

The 25-year-old Portugal international, who is of Angolan descent, has been earmarked by the Blues as a key target to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season.

Leão has endured a mixed campaign with Milan but remains one of the club’s most valuable assets.

Despite a challenging season, Leão has still managed to register 11 goals and 11 assists across 45 competitive appearances.

His current contract at San Siro runs until 2028 and contains a release clause set at €175 million, although reports suggest Milan may be willing to negotiate a transfer fee below that figure.

Chelsea’s interest in Leão is not new, but recent developments indicate the club is ready to act.

The club has begun conversations with the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, to explore the feasibility of a deal.

While Mendes is not officially Leão’s representative, he has close ties to the player’s family and is expected to play a crucial role in any potential move.

Leão is known for his explosive pace, dribbling ability, and versatility across the front line—qualities that have seen him linked with top clubs across Europe.

Comfortable operating both as a left winger and a central striker, he could offer Chelsea a significant boost in attack.

The Premier League side are preparing for an active summer transfer window as they look to rebuild under new management and return to title contention.
