Fulham defender Calvin Bassey has emerged as a transfer target for Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal, with discussions reportedly underway over a potential summer move.
Bassey’s Rise at Fulham
Since joining Fulham from Ajax in July 2023 for €22.5 million, Bassey has established himself as a key figure in the London club’s defence.
The Nigerian international, who has earned 25 caps for his country, has impressed with his physicality, defensive awareness, and commitment on the pitch.
At 25, the former Rangers centre-back has enjoyed a strong campaign in the Premier League, making 29 appearances in all competitions and scoring twice.
His performances have not gone unnoticed, and while European clubs have yet to make formal offers, interest from Saudi Arabia is growing.
Al Hilal Enter Negotiations
According to reports, Al Hilal have begun discussions with Bassey’s representatives regarding a potential move to the Gulf.
The Saudi club is reportedly prepared to offer the defender a lucrative four-year contract, with the option of an additional year.
If the deal materialises, Bassey could earn an annual salary of €8 million.
However, Fulham hold a strong negotiating position, with the Nigerian international under contract until June 2027.
Any transfer would require Al Hilal to meet his €25 million release clause, and it remains to be seen whether the Saudi club will push forward with a formal bid.
With the summer transfer window approaching, Bassey’s future could hinge on Fulham’s willingness to part ways with one of their standout defenders or whether he remains in England for another season.
