Spanish giants FC Barcelona have reportedly entered the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong this summer.
The Dutch international, who is of Ghanaian descent, has been identified by incoming Barcelona manager Hansi Flick as a strong candidate to compete with Jules Kounde for the right-back position next season.
Despite Kounde’s solid performances, Flick is reportedly concerned about his lack of attacking output.
Frimpong, known for his offensive capabilities, is seen as a more dynamic option. However, any potential transfer will depend on whether Barcelona can meet Bayer Leverkusen’s asking price.
The Catalan club sees Frimpong as a versatile addition—not only as a right-back alternative to Kounde but also as cover for Lamine Yamal on the right wing if needed.
At this stage, it remains uncertain whether Barcelona will proceed with a formal bid, but Frimpong’s name remains on their radar as they look to strengthen the squad.
The 23-year-old has featured 39 times for Leverkusen this season, contributing four goals in the process.
