Franco-Guinean midfielder Paul Pogba free to play again as doping ban ends on March 11

NOUVEAU POUR SITE 80 1

French midfielder, Paul Pogba, is set to return to professional football on March 11, 2025, following the completion of his reduced doping ban.

Initially handed a four-year suspension in September 2023 after testing positive for elevated testosterone levels, the France international of Guinean descent’s ban was later reduced to 18 months upon appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The doping incident occurred after a Serie A match between Juventus and Udinese, where Pogba tested positive for elevated testosterone levels.

He maintained that the substance entered his system unintentionally through a nutritional supplement prescribed by a doctor. CAS acknowledged this explanation, leading to the reduction of his suspension.

During his suspension, Pogba’s contract with Juventus was terminated, making him a free agent. Despite this setback, he has remained focused on maintaining his fitness and preparing for a return to competitive action.

Several clubs have expressed interest in acquiring his services, including Olympique Marseille, teams from Major League Soccer (MLS), and clubs in the Saudi Pro League.

Pogba’s career has been marked by significant achievements, including a World Cup victory with France in 2018 and a high-profile transfer to Manchester United in 2016 for a then-record fee of €105 million.

As of March 11, 2025, Pogba is eligible to sign with a new club and participate in official matches.

His next move remains a topic of speculation, but his availability is expected to attract considerable attention.
