Sweden international of Eritrean descent Alexander Isak is open to extending his stay at Newcastle United despite interest from clubs.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move away from Newcastle United ahead of the summer transfer window, with Barcelona emerging as key contender for his services.
Isak has emerged as Barcelona’s long-term replacement for ageing Robert Lewandowski, with president Joan Laporta reportedly keen to lure the forward.
Meanwhile, fellow Premier League clubs Arsenal and Liverpool are said to be interested in Isak.
Currently, reports emerging suggests Isak is open to signing a new deal at St. James’ Park but would want a release clause as part of the new deal at Newcastle United.
Isak is settled in the Northeast of England and is not desperate to leave ahead of the upcoming window.
Newcastle have slapped a hefty price tag well in excess of €100 million on Isak, with reports suggesting the forward could leave if his club fail to snatch a Champions League spot next season.
Isak is still under contract at Newcastle until 2028, so there is no pressing urgency at the club to get him to extend.
The forward has scored 22 goals and provided five assists in 31 matches across all competitions so far this season.
