Morocco attacker Brahim Diaz has cautioned his Real Madrid teammates after beating Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League.
The 15-time champions recorded a 2-1 win against the neighbours at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday night in the Round of 16.
Rodrygo and Brahim Diaz scored in the 4th and 55th minutes, while Atletico Madrid’s only goal was scored by Julian Alvarez in the 32nd minute.
“Playing here is incredible, I always say that, but when you wear this shirt, you have to give everything. The goal was good, but it’s not over yet; there’s still the second leg, and we have to fight with the same intensity,” Diaz told Movistar after the match.
“We were always solid, it’s true that they equalised and that affected us a little, but we went into the second half strong. We’re Real Madrid and we can change the game at any moment.
“Everything is still open, it’s true that we won at home, but in the second leg we have to give everything, this is the Champions League and any detail can make the difference.”
The Real Madrid star concluded his speech by emphasizing his role in the team: “I’m here to help Real; that’s the only thing I have to do.”
The second leg is scheduled to be held at the Civitas Metropolitano stadium on March 12 to decide who qualifies for the next round.
