Marcel Koller expressed satisfaction with Al Ahly’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over the Border Guards in the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday.
The win, secured by Ashraf Bin Sharqi’s goal, came after a gritty performance from the Red Devils, who faced a tough opponent at the Burj Al Arab Stadium in Alexandria.
“We were the better side in this match,” Koller said post-game. “We made several attempts, especially in the first half, but it was Bin Sharqi’s goal that sealed our effort.”
The Austrian coach acknowledged the strength of their opponents, who have shown impressive form this season. “The Border Guards were a strong team, as shown by their league results, but we earned this win through our persistence.”
Looking ahead, Koller is focused on continuing the momentum. “This victory is important, and I am happy with the performance. We now look forward to our next match against El-Gaish to finish the first round on a high note.”
Al Ahly’s next challenge will be against El-Gaish on March 5th.
