Moroccan defender, Achraf Hakimi scored twice on Sunday night, leading PSG to a 3-2 victory against Olympique Lyon.
The highly-rated defender started the mouthwatering fixture in the French Ligue 1 and put up a Man of the Match performance.
After a goalless first half, PSG broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute when Bradley Barcola set up Hakimi, who fired a brilliant shot into the bottom left corner past Lucas Perri. Seven minutes later, Ousmane Dembélé doubled the lead with a stunning solo effort, weaving past defenders before sending a precise strike inside the left post.
Lyon responded in the 83rd minute through Rayan Cherki, who latched onto a pass from Georges Mikautadze and finished clinically inside the box. However, Hakimi restored PSG’s two-goal cushion just two minutes later, slotting home after a well-timed assist from Kang-In Lee.
Lyon refused to back down, and in stoppage time, Corentin Tolisso gave them hope with a towering header from an Ainsley Maitland-Niles cross. Despite the late push, PSG remained firm in securing all three points.
After his two goals today, Achraf Hakimi now has four goals and five assists after making 18 appearances in the French Ligue 1.
