Lamine Yamal displays confidence as Barcelona surges back to the top of La Liga.
The 17-year-old attacker, speaking to Mundo Deportivo, is certain his team has what it takes to lift the trophy. Barcelona beat Rayo Vallecano 1-0 through a Robert Lewandowski penalty in the 28th minute.
“Since the beginning of the season, I have said that we need self-confidence. Favorite roles mean nothing—we just have to believe that we are the best team and also play like this. We are the best and we will get the title!”
After a rough patch, Barça has fought its way back, and Yamal knows grinding out tough wins is key.
“The games that ultimately bring you the championship are the difficult 1-0 wins—like against Rayo. We used to leave points, so we just had to win and wait for the competition to fail.”
Despite an up-and-down campaign, Yamal remains unfazed.
“One season is long, and every team has ups and downs. Atlético started strongly, and now we have caught up. It is crucial to bounce back after setbacks. If you lose four games but win ten in a row, you stay in the title race.”
