Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced the appointment of former captain Mohammed Kallon as their new head coach.
The 45-year-old tactician is expected to lead the Sierra Leone national team in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Sierra Leone next competitive matches will be in March 2025 against Guinea-Bissau and Egypt.
Currently occupying fourth spot in Group A with five points, Mohammed Kallon has to turn things around for Sierra Leone as they battle for qualification to the biggest soccer mundial to be held in USA, Canada and Mexico.
Kallon has already named a 25-man squad for a training camp, including five players from FC Kallon and star forward Musa Noah Kamara.
The group winner of the group secures a direct spot at the 2026 World Cup, with Egypt sitting on top of the table with 10 points after four matches each.
Considered by many to be the best player in the nation, Kallon had a prosperous career with teams like Inter Milan, Monaco, and Genoa. He scored more than 115 goals and received 39 caps for Sierra Leone.
