Ivory Coast suffer blow as Amad Diallo ruled out of crucial World Cup qualifiers

Manchester United winger Amad Diallo is set for an extended period on the sidelines after suffering ankle ligament damage, dealing a major blow to both club and country.

The 22-year-old Ivorian, who has been one of United’s brightest sparks in recent months, confirmed the injury on Instagram, expressing disappointment but vowing to return stronger.

“Extremely disappointed to be writing this message in such a crucial time of the season,” Diallo wrote. “Unfortunately, I will be out for some time with an injury. I will come back stronger than ever!! It is time to support the boys from the outside. Still loads to play for.”

United are still assessing the full extent of the injury, but Diallo is expected to miss several weeks, potentially ruling him out for the remainder of the season.

His absence is a huge setback for Ruben Amorim’s side, who currently sit 13th in the Premier League.

The injury also means Diallo will miss Ivory Coast’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Burundi and The Gambia next month.

Having played a key role in the Elephants’ recent success, including their AFCON triumph last year, his absence will be a significant blow to the national team’s attacking options.

Diallo has been instrumental for the Red Devils this campaign, scoring 9 times and delivering 7 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
