Malian international Diadié Samassekou is in discussions with Hoffenheim over a potential contract extension, despite his current deal being set to expire in June.
The midfielder, who is currently recovering from a hip injury, has been offered a new two-year contract by the Bundesliga club.
According to Africafoot, Hoffenheim is keen to retain the 29-year-old after he showed signs of returning to his best form before his injury.
Negotiations are already underway, with a source close to the player confirming that talks between both parties are progressing.
Samassekou is expected to make his return to competitive action in April.
The Malian midfielder had previously spent two consecutive seasons on loan, first at Olympiakos (2022/23) and then at Cádiz CF (2023/24).
However, he managed to re-establish himself at Hoffenheim before suffering a hip injury in the club’s 5-0 defeat to Bayern Munich on Matchday 17 of the Bundesliga.
The injury forced him off the pitch in the 41st minute.
Hoffenheim remains hopeful that Samassekou will agree to an extension as they look to strengthen their squad for the future.
