Former Nigeria defender Taye Taiwo inducted into Marseille’s Hall of Fame

Former Nigeria international Taye Taiwo has been inducted into Olympique Marseille’s Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame is the highest individual honour awarded to players, who have made a significant impact in the club’s history.

Taye Taiwo, who featured for Marseille from 2005 to 2011 becomes the latest player to join the club’s elite group.

During his spell at Marseille, Taiwo made 271 appearances, scoring 25 goals and providing 23 assists.

He was a key player in the club’s Ligue 1 title-winning campaign in 2010, as well as their triumphs in the French League Cup and French Super Cup.

Aside Marseille, Taiwo also played for AC Milan, QPR, and Dynamo Kyiv. While at Milan, he won the Italian Super Cup in 2011.

At the international level, Taiwo earned 53 caps and scored five goals for Nigeria. He helped the Super Eagles win bronze medals at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2006 and 2010, as well as silver at the 2008 Olympic Games.
