The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has decided to postpone the fixtures for Matchday 20 following the violent events that occurred during the clash between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko on Sunday.

Tragically, the incident resulted in the death of a Kotoko fan, Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Nana Pooley.

In light of these events, the GFA has announced the suspension of the upcoming round of matches to allow for discussions with key stakeholders, including club representatives, security officials, and football governing bodies.

This time will be used to thoroughly investigate the situation and implement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The GFA has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the football experience in Ghana and ensuring the safety of all players, officials, and fans at the stadium.

Furthermore, the association has promised to take firm action against those responsible for the violence, signaling that such behavior will not be tolerated.

Asante Kotoko has strongly condemned the violence and pledged full cooperation with the authorities during the investigation.

In the meantime, the GFA has indefinitely suspended Nsoatreman FC’s home ground, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Donkor has been appointed to lead the investigation.
