Central African Republic striker Goduine Koyalipou is set to complete his move to French Ligue 1 side RC Lens, with medical examinations scheduled for Wednesday, January 8.
The prolific forward, who arrived in France on Tuesday, is poised to finalise a transfer from CSKA Sofia for an estimated €2 million. Pending a successful medical, Koyalipou will sign a three-and-a-half-year contract with Lens, bolstering their attacking options for the ongoing season.
Standing at 1.84 meters and weighing over 80 kilograms, Koyalipou is expected to add strength and versatility to the Lens frontline.
The 23-year-old striker began his career in Ligue 2 with Niort before moving to Switzerland to play for Lausanne between 2021 and 2023. A loan spell at Avranches showcased his goal-scoring prowess, as he netted 13 goals. This was followed by a productive stint at Belgium’s Waasland-Beveren, where he scored 16 goals.
Koyalipou’s exceptional form continued at CSKA Sofia, where he has been in sensational form this season, scoring 14 goals in 16 league matches to become the second-highest scorer in the Bulgarian league.
Initially capped by France at the U19 level, Koyalipou later committed to representing the Central African Republic on the international stage. He has earned seven caps and scored one goal for his national team.
Lens fans will be eager to see how Koyalipou’s scoring abilities translate to Ligue 1, as the striker prepares to make his mark with the “Blood and Gold” club.
