Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s tenure at Chelsea was fraught with challenges during his one-year stint with the club, beginning under manager Thomas Tuchel, who was dismissed shortly after his arrival.
The Gabon forward struggled to make an impact during the 2022/23 season and ultimately left the club without leaving a lasting mark after joining from Barcelona.
In an interview with The Athletic, Aubameyang described the disarray within the Chelsea setup during his time there.
“They did a mess,” he stated, emphasising the lack of a professional atmosphere in the dressing room. He further remarked, “It didn’t even look like a football dressing room; it was more like rugby.”
Despite the turmoil, Aubameyang found solace in the camaraderie of his teammates, which included notable players like Hakim Ziyech, Denis Zakaria, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Romelu Lukaku.
He noted, “It was good I wasn’t alone. We were laughing every day, so it was OK.”
The 35-year-old did one season at Marseille before leaving to join Al-Qadsiah in the Saudi Pro League.
