Aurelien Tchouameni returns to Cameroon to support children’s home

Aurelien Tchouameni has used his break from France duty to return to Cameroon, the country where his parents were born, and continue his charitable work with vulnerable children in Manjo.

The 26-year-old Real Madrid midfielder, who was not selected for France during this international window, visited the Manjo Children’s Home in the Moungo department of Cameroon’s Littoral region.

Tchouameni has developed a close relationship with the children’s home through his Prosperi endowment fund, which has supported the organisation for several years. His latest visit forms part of an ongoing commitment to the facility and its residents.

The France international first travelled to Manjo with his family in December 2024 to open a multi-sports complex funded entirely by his foundation. The facility gives the children the opportunity to play football, basketball, tennis, handball and volleyball.

During that visit, Tchouameni spent time with the residents, presented them with sports equipment and took part in a football match. He has placed particular importance on the project because of his belief in the role sport can play in children’s development and wellbeing.

Prosperi’s support has also extended beyond sporting facilities. In April, the foundation organised a free campaign to screen for eye conditions among both the children and staff at the Manjo Children’s Home.

Born in Rouen, Tchouameni remains closely connected to Cameroon despite representing France internationally. His family has links to Bana, in the country’s West region, and the midfielder has made several visits there over the years.

When he was in Manjo in December 2024, Tchouameni spoke about the strength of his connection with Cameroon, saying he felt “at home” there and wanted to continue developing different projects in the country.

His latest trip comes during a period away from competitive football. Tchouameni was left out of the France squad as he continues his recovery and fitness work following a lengthy spell unavailable.

While Les Bleus compete in the Nations League, the 2022 World Cup runner-up has taken the opportunity to return to the country of his roots. He will then go back to Real Madrid after once again making a notable contribution away from the pitch.
