Burkina Faso stranded in Morocco

Burkina Faso’s international friendly against Argentina, scheduled for October 4, has been thrown into doubt after the Stallions reportedly encountered problems travelling from Morocco to Argentina.

With just two days remaining before the fixture, the Burkinabe players are said to still be stranded at their hotel in Morocco and have yet to make the journey to Buenos Aires.

According to reports, the Stallions were prepared to leave their hotel and head to the airport for their flight to Argentina. However, an issue with the flight reportedly prevented the team from departing as planned.

The delay has raised concerns over whether Burkina Faso will be able to arrive in Argentina in time to honour the friendly.

The situation is further complicated by the fact that the Stallions are reportedly yet to hold a training session ahead of the match, despite the fixture being only two days away.

However, the Burkina Faso Football Federation has not officially confirmed any problems with the team’s travel arrangements or suggested that the match has been cancelled.

The coming hours are therefore expected to provide greater clarity on whether the Stallions will be able to resolve the travel situation and make it to Buenos Aires for the scheduled encounter.

The Argentina friendly is expected to be Burkina Faso’s final game of the current international break.

The Stallions have already played two matches in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, recording a draw and a victory as they continue their campaign for a place at the continental tournament.
