Wolverhampton Wanderers are on the verge of securing the signing of defender Emmanuel Agbadou from Stade Reims, bolstering their defensive options as they battle to climb out of the Premier League relegation zone.

The deal is reportedly worth
18 million Euros with an additional 2 million Euros in performance-related add-ons is a statement of intent from Wolves, who are determined to strengthen their backline following a challenging first half of the season.

The 27-year-old Cote d’Ivoire centre-back has impressed in Ligue 1, making 15 appearances this season and captaining Reims on several occasions.

Known for his composure, leadership, and aerial dominance, Agbadou will bring experience and stability to Wolves, who have been hampered by the summer departure of Maximilian Kilman and a season-ending ACL injury to Yerson Mosquera.

Sitting precariously in 17th place, the team desperately needs reinforcements to solidify their defence and avoid a prolonged relegation battle.

Pending a successful medical and work permit approval, Agbadou will sign a four-and-a-half-year contract, with an option for a further year.

This move reflects Wolves’ proactive approach in the January transfer window, signalling their determination to turn their season around.

Agbadou moved to Reims in June 2022 after a successful two seasons at Belgian club KAS Eupen, where he joined from Tunisian side US Monastir.

Amewou hoping to seize chance at Nimes after difficult season

Nimes midfielder Komlan Amewou is approaching the new Ligue 2 season with renewed optimism after a frustrating last campaign at the club. In an exclusive interview, the Togo international said he has a point to prove this term after struggling for game time under former coach Thierry Froger. “I feel good compared to last year when I played very little and the coach had very little confidence in me,” the 28-year-old told AfricaSoccer.com. “Today, I have all the cards in hand to prove my talent. It was up to me to show him and everyone else that I was better than that.” Amewou believes new manager Victor Zvunka, who returned

Bellingham deserved Ballon d’Or more than Vinicius Junior even though I’m Brazilian, says Agent Cury

Football agent Andre Cury believes Jude Bellingham was more deserving of last season’s Ballon d’Or than his Real Madrid teammate Vinicius Jr., despite widespread support for the Brazilian star. Vinicius, who is of African heritage through the Tikar people of Cameroon, was among the favourites for the 2023/24 award. However, the honour went to Manchester City midfielder Rodri, following a standout season in which he helped City to domestic and European success. In response, Real Madrid notably chose not to attend the ceremony in a show of support for Vinicius. Despite sharing nationality with Vinicius, Cury insisted that Bellingham should have been recognised for his exceptional individual performances. Speaking to

Franco-Ivorian defender Ismaël Doukouré attracts Bundesliga giants as Strasbourg exit looms

Ismaël Doukouré’s departure from RC Strasbourg appears increasingly likely, with Bundesliga heavyweights Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund reportedly stepping up their pursuit of the highly-rated Franco-Ivorian defender. The 21-year-old centre-back has declined multiple contract extension proposals from Strasbourg since last summer, making it clear that his intention is to leave at the end of the season. With only one year remaining on his current deal, the Ligue 1 side now faces mounting pressure to sell rather than risk losing him for a reduced fee in future windows. Doukouré’s consistent performances in the French top flight have not gone unnoticed. Sources suggest both Leverkusen and Dortmund are preparing bids in anticipation

Galatasaray: Nigerian star Victor Osimhen and Uruguay’s Muslera target historic milestones

Galatasaray are closing in on a potentially historic end to their season, with veteran goalkeeper Fernando Muslera and prolific striker Victor Osimhen each poised to break significant records for the Turkish giants. At 37, Uruguayan shot-stopper Muslera is chasing a personal milestone that would etch his name even deeper into club folklore. Having already lifted 17 trophies since arriving at Galatasaray in 2011, the captain is within reach of a record-breaking 19th title. Should Galatasaray secure both the domestic league and cup titles this season, Muslera would surpass the legendary trio of Bülent Korkmaz, Tugay Kerimoğlu, and Emre Belözoğlu, each of whom ended their careers with 18 trophies. Muslera’s enduring

Thomas Partey didn’t play against Ipswich because he wasn’t feeling well – Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has disclosed that Ghana international Thomas Partey did not feature in the game against Ipswich Town over the weekend because he was not feeling well. According to him, he could afford to leave the midfielder on the bench as an unused substitute because there are other options to choose from in his squad. “Yeah, well, the reason for it was because Thomas wasn’t available to start the game. At the end, we decided not even to play him because he wasn’t feeling particularly well. So we have some options. We have the opportunity to experiment, but we have all this as well,” Mikel Arteta shared on
