A late goal from Amad Diallo secured a 2-2 draw for Manchester United against league leaders Liverpool, bringing an end to United’s three-match Premier League losing streak.

The dramatic encounter at Anfield on Sunday provided fans with a second-half spectacle and moments of high tension, including a last-gasp miss by Harry Maguire that could have sealed the win for the visitors.

Liverpool began the match in control, showcasing the attacking verve that has propelled them to the top of the table this season.

They opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Mohamed Salah converted a well-placed cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold, silencing the away supporters.

United, still reeling from their recent poor form, struggled to find their rhythm in the first half as Liverpool dictated the pace.

The game took a dramatic turn in the second half.

United found their equalizer in the 57th minute when Bruno Fernandes delivered a pinpoint free-kick that allowed Marcus Rashford to head the ball past Alisson Becker.

The goal reignited the contest, and Anfield roared back into life as Liverpool pressed forward for a second.

The hosts regained the lead in the 74th minute through Darwin Núñez, whose instinctive finish came after a chaotic goalmouth scramble.

Liverpool looked poised to secure all three points, but United had other ideas.

In the 80th minute, Alejandro Garnacho sprinted down the left flank and delivered a perfectly timed low cross into the box.

Amad Diallo was there to meet it with a precise finish, sending the ball past Alisson and leveling the score at 2-2.

The goal marked Diallo’s sixth of the season and showcased his growing importance to the team.

As the match entered its final moments, United nearly completed a stunning comeback.

In stoppage time, a lofted cross into the box found Harry Maguire unmarked near the back post.

However, the defender failed to convert the golden opportunity, sending his header agonizingly wide.

The draw means Liverpool remains atop the Premier League standings, but they will be frustrated by their inability to close out the match.

Manchester United, meanwhile, will view the result as a morale-boosting point, breaking a string of defeats and showing resilience against formidable opposition.

Post-match, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp lamented the missed opportunities: “We had the chances to win it, but football can be unpredictable. We have to stay focused.”

United boss Erik ten Hag praised his side’s determination: “The fight and spirit we showed in the second half is what this team is about. We’ll build on this result.”

The result sets the stage for a captivating race as both teams look ahead to the next round of fixtures.
