I want Liverpool to win the Premier League – Egyptian star Mohamed Salah

Egyptian attacker, Mohamed Salah has openly said he wants his side, Liverpool to annex the 2024/25 Premier League title.

Salah again was on the scoresheet in their 5-0 resounding win against West Ham United at the London Olympic Stadium on Sunday afternoon to stretch their lead at the summit of the Premier League table.

Quizzed in an interview with Sky Sports about his individual and collective targets, he said, “The only thing in my mind, to be fair, is I want Liverpool to win the league and I just want to be part of that. That’s the only thing I’ve really focused [on] since the beginning of the season.

“I will do my best for the team to win trophies. We are in the right direction but of course, there are a few other teams really trying to catch up with us and they are very good teams. We just need to stay focused and humble, work hard and just go again.”

On his clever assist to Gakpo, Salah said: “I think it’s quite similar to the Arsenal goal, also I was offside and I left the ball to Darwin [Nunez]. This one, Lucho was shouting behind me, or screaming, and I knew I was offside. I had to run towards the goalkeeper and then he gave the ball and crossed it to me. I managed to pass it to Cody also.

“I’m just trying to enjoy the game. To be fair, I was disappointed with a few chances I missed today, but at the end of the day I came here for the result. I want the team to win, I want to do something in the game and I’m glad I did. But I’m always hungry for more, hopefully in the next one I will score more. But the most important thing, again, is the team won the game.”

Luis Diaz had put the visitors in front in the capital before Salah teed up Gakpo to strike and then swept in the third of the evening himself. Trent Alexander-Arnold’s deflected effort from distance increased the lead to four and an excellent Salah dribble preceded substitute Diogo Jota wrapping up the scoring.
