Argentine coach Héctor Cúper has shown interest in taking over the vacant head coach position for Tunisia’s national football team.
Tunisia has been without a coach since October 2024, following the departure of Faouzi Benzarti after just four matches in charge.
According to a report by WinWin.com, Cúper, who has previously managed Egypt and DR Congo, has expressed his desire for the role through his agent.
The committee overseeing the Tunisian Football Federation is actively seeking a reliable coach to guide the team toward qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and a strong performance at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 in Morocco next December.
Officials with the Eagles of Carthage are reportedly considering several potential candidates, though no timeline for a decision has been revealed.
Cúper brings an impressive resume in African football, most notably with Egypt. He led the Pharaohs to qualification for the 2017 AFCON, where they finished as runners-up, losing to Cameroon in the final. Additionally, Cúper secured Egypt’s spot in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The 68-year-old, who also managed Inter Milan between 2001 and 2003, has been without a managerial position since June 2024, when he parted ways with the Syrian national team.
