Kaizer Chiefs seek third Betway Premiership win as Mfundo Vilakazi warns of Richards Bay threat

Kaizer Chiefs will aim to continue their unbeaten start to the Betway Premiership season when they visit Richards Bay at Princess Magogo Stadium in Kwa Mashu on Wednesday evening.

The Soweto club have collected two victories and a draw from their opening three league matches under new head coach Fernando Da Cruz. A third win would strengthen their early momentum, but they face a Richards Bay side that Mfundo Vilakazi believes will be particularly difficult to overcome on home soil.

The attacking midfielder is expected to start for Amakhosi and has been central to the creativity in Da Cruz’s team. He says Chiefs have prepared carefully for the match and will travel with confidence despite the threat posed by their opponents.

“Richards Bay are a very good team and especially dangerous at home,” Vilakazi told the club’s media ahead of the match.

Chiefs’ early record represents an encouraging beginning under Da Cruz, who took charge ahead of the new campaign. Richards Bay, however, will enter the contest seeking a result of their own. They are currently 13th in the league table and have yet to win this season, drawing one and losing two of their first three matches.
