MC Alger parts ways with coach Patrice Beaumelle after Al Hilal defeat

MC Alger has announced the departure of head coach Patrice Beaumelle following the team’s 1-0 loss to Sudanese side Al Hilal in the group stage of the African Champions League (CAF Champions League).

The French manager’s position, already precarious due to inconsistent performances, became untenable after Saturday’s defeat.

In an official statement, the club confirmed the decision to terminate Beaumelle’s contract by mutual agreement, expressing gratitude for his service.

The statement read: The management of Mouloudia Club of Algiers extends its sincere thanks to Mr. Patrice Amir Beaumelle, head coach of the first team, following the amicable termination of his contract.

This decision was made in a framework of mutual respect between both parties.

Beaumelle, who joined MC Alger with high expectations, struggled to win over both fans and management.

A series of inconsistent results left his position dependent on immediate success.

Despite narrowly avoiding serious setbacks earlier in the season, the loss to Al Hilal proved to be the final straw.

The club is now working to secure a replacement for Beaumelle.

According to local media, three candidates have emerged as potential successors: Egyptian coach Hossam El Badry, Tunisian tactician Khaled Ben Yahia, and Brazilian manager Marcos Paquetá.

Negotiations are reportedly already underway, with Khaled Ben Yahia considered the frontrunner due to his strong profile and track record in African football.

Beaumelle’s tenure at MC Alger was marked by challenges, including managing high expectations at one of Algeria’s most storied clubs.

However, under his leadership, the team failed to deliver consistent performances both domestically and in continental competitions.

The loss to Al Hilal, which left MC Alger’s Champions League ambitions in jeopardy, sealed his fate.

For MC Alger, the focus now shifts to rebuilding under new leadership as the club seeks to stabilize its season.

The timing of the decision underscores the urgency of the situation, with the club aiming to identify and appoint a new head coach in the coming days to minimize disruption.

Fans and analysts alike are eager to see who will take the reins at the iconic Algerian club.

The management’s choice of successor will be critical in determining whether MC Alger can recover from its current struggles and reassert itself as a competitive force in African football.
