Al-Ahly’s forward Hussein El-Shahat has clinched the inaugural prize for Best Goal, awarded by the Professional Clubs Association for the 2024-2025 season.
The award, given after the close of the first round of league matches, saw El-Shahat outshine three contenders to take home the honor.
El-Shahat’s win was announced following an association vote, where he garnered a resounding 92.3% of votes, decisively surpassing Zamalek’s Nasser Maher, who received 6.9%.
Mahmoud Hamada of Al-Masry earned 0.5% in the voting, while Smouha’s Abdel-Kabir Al-Wadi finished with 0.2%, rounding out the nominees for the best goal recognition in the Egyptian Premier League, commonly known this season as the “Nile League.”
The Professional Clubs Association, in a public statement, highlighted El-Shahat’s goal as a standout among the season’s early performances, lauding his skillful execution on the pitch.
El-Shahat’s decisive lead in the vote left little doubt about his impact, as fans and analysts alike have noted his pivotal role in Al-Ahly’s strong league showing.
The Nile League, entering its second round this week, is already proving fiercely competitive, with clubs such as Zamalek and Al-Ittihad of Alexandria aiming to close the gap with Al-Ahly.
Zamalek, in particular, has shown strong performances, marking their intent to challenge for the top spot.
As the second round of the Nile League kicks off on Thursday, three key matchups are set to unfold: Al-Ittihad will face Haras El-Hodoud, Ghazl El-Mahalla will go up against Talaea El-Geish at 5 p.m., while Al-Ahly takes on Zed at 8 p.m.
These matches are expected to set the stage for an intense competition as clubs continue to vie for league supremacy in the early phases of the season.
