Five new faces called up by Regragui for Central African Republic clash
Walid Regragui, head coach of Morocco’s national football team, has called up five new players for the first time as part of the squad’s preparatory camp ahead of their double encounter against the Central African Republic in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The third and fourth rounds of the qualifiers will see the “Atlas Lions” fielding fresh talent, offering these newcomers an opportunity to prove themselves worthy of wearing the national jersey.
Regragui’s decision brings a mix of local and international talent into the fold, with two players currently playing in the domestic league.
Jamal Harkass, a promising defender, and goalkeeper Salah Eddine Chahab, who replaces Mehdi Benabid, have both earned their spots in the squad.
Benabid, who has been sidelined from regular action with his club, the Royal Army, makes way for Chahab to showcase his skills on the international stage.
Additionally, three foreign-based players have received their first call-ups.
Among them is Osama Sahraoui, who recently opted to represent Morocco, choosing the Atlas Lions over his previous national allegiance.
Joining him is Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal, who previously featured for Morocco’s youth teams, and Reda Belhyan, another exciting talent eager to contribute to the national side’s campaign.
Regragui’s decision to introduce new faces at such a crucial stage of the qualifiers is seen as a strategic move, aiming to refresh the squad and provide a chance for rising players to demonstrate their capabilities.
With the qualifiers set to be a key milestone in the team’s journey towards the Africa Cup of Nations, the inclusion of these five new players will add depth and fresh energy to the national team.
The call-ups come amid a backdrop of increased competition for spots within the national side, as Regragui looks to build a well-rounded team that can secure a place in the upcoming continental tournament.
Morocco’s national team, having showcased impressive performances on both the regional and global stage in recent years, remains determined to continue its momentum, and these new additions are expected to contribute to that effort.
Fans will be eagerly watching the performances of these fresh faces, hoping they can rise to the occasion and cement their places in the squad.
With a mix of youth and experience, Regragui’s men are set to take on the Central African Republic in matches that could significantly impact their journey towards qualification.
The focus now shifts to the upcoming fixtures, where Morocco will look to secure vital points in their quest for a place in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Regragui’s selection signals his confidence in these new talents, and the upcoming matches present a platform for these players to seize their opportunity and establish themselves as integral parts of the national team.
