Samuel Eto’o, the President of the Cameroonian Football Association (FECAFOOT), has been handed a six-month suspension by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.

This ban, announced on September 30, 2024, comes in response to Eto’o’s breach of FIFA’s Disciplinary Code, specifically articles 13 and 14, which deal with offensive behavior and misconduct by players and officials.

The incident that led to this sanction occurred during the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup round of 16 match between Brazil and Cameroon, on September 11, 2024.

The ban prevents Eto’o from attending any matches involving FECAFOOT teams, including men’s and women’s teams across all age categories.

This sanction marks a significant blow to Eto’o, a highly influential figure in African football, as he has been instrumental in driving reforms within Cameroonian football since his election as president.

His absence from the stands for the next six months will undoubtedly have an impact on the leadership of FECAFOOT during this period.

Eto’o was formally notified of the decision on the day the ban took effect, limiting his presence at key football events for the foreseeable future.
