Al-Ahli goalkeeper Edouard Mendy will miss Monday’s AFC Champions League Elite match against Al Wasl because of injury.
Al-Ahli travel to the United Arab Emirates to face Al Wasl on Monday, with the Senegal international absent as he continues his recovery.
Saudi newspaper Arriyadiyah reported that Mendy is following a treatment and rehabilitation programme aimed at preparing him for Al-Ahli’s Saudi Pro League meeting with Al Nassr next week. He is expected to be fit to play in that fixture.
Brazilian defender Roger Ibanez will join Al-Ahli’s squad in the United Arab Emirates for the match against Al Wasl.
Mendy announced his retirement from international football before the September international break. He made 59 appearances for Senegal, conceding 34 goals and keeping 31 clean sheets.
The goalkeeper helped Senegal win the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations. He is also awaiting a decision from the Court of Arbitration for Sport concerning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be hosted by three countries: Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
