Club Africain eased to a 2-0 victory against newly promoted Jeunesse Sportive d’El Omrane in Tunisia’s Ligue 1, demonstrating their dominance in the second round of the 2024-2025 season. The match, held at Radès, saw the visitors outclassed by one of Tunisia’s football powerhouses.
For JS Omrane, the encounter marked their first major test of the season following their promotion.
While they started the season brightly with a home win against El Gawafel Sportives de Gafsa, this clash against Club Africain exposed the gap in quality between the newly promoted side and one of Tunisia’s top teams.
Despite expectations that JS Omrane might offer some resistance, the match was effectively decided within the first 11 minutes.
Club Africain wasted no time asserting their superiority. The breakthrough came in the 6th minute from a well-worked set-piece.
After a free kick taken by Kingsley Eduwo was initially cleared by the defense, Ahmed Khalil pounced on the rebound, but his shot was saved by JS Omrane goalkeeper Montassar Essid.
However, Eduwo was quick to react and headed the ball into the net to give the hosts an early lead.
Just four minutes later, Club Africain doubled their advantage. Montassar Essid, who had just denied Bilel Ayet Malek’s powerful shot with a superb save, was left helpless as Hamza Ben Abda’s strike from a corner taken by Bassem Srarfi sailed past him in the 11th minute, leaving the visitors reeling.
After the second goal, the tempo of the game slowed as Club Africain controlled proceedings. The rest of the match resembled a training session, with the home side comfortably managing their lead.
JS Omrane, despite occasional forays forward, failed to produce any meaningful threat to Ghaith Yeferni’s goal.
Their attack lacked the sharpness and precision needed to break through Club Africain’s solid defense.
While the newly promoted team managed to string together a few attacking moves, their efforts were too disjointed to seriously challenge the established club. In the end, the 2-0 scoreline was a fair reflection of the gap between the two sides.
Despite the defeat, JS Omrane’s players can hold their heads high. Up against a vastly superior opponent, they played to the best of their ability but were simply outmatched by a more experienced and cohesive team.
Club Africain, meanwhile, will be pleased with their performance as they continue their strong start to the season, showing their intent to challenge for the title once again.
For JS Omrane, this match served as a valuable learning experience, as they aim to establish themselves among Tunisia’s elite in their first season back in Ligue 1.
