The Moroccan national team, known as the Atlas Lions, has commenced their preparations for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifiers. On Monday, September 2, the squad, summoned by head coach Walid Regragui, arrived at the Mohammed VI Football Complex to begin their training regimen.

Coach Regragui had announced his 26-man squad for the initial qualifying matches on August 29, during a press briefing held at the same complex.

The selection saw the notable absence of veteran defender Romain Saïss and the inclusion of Adam Aznou, a promising young full-back from Bayern Munich.

The Atlas Lions’ qualifying campaign will commence with two crucial fixtures at the Grand Stadium of Agadir.

Morocco is set to face Gabon on September 6 at 7:00 p.m. local time, followed by a match against Lesotho on September 9, also at 7:00 p.m.

These matches are pivotal as Morocco aims to secure a place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted in Morocco.

As the team assembles at the Mohammed VI complex, their focus will be on tactical preparations and team cohesion ahead of these important qualifiers.

The upcoming games are expected to be a test of Morocco’s readiness and ability to advance through the qualifying rounds.

The arrival of the squad marks the beginning of an intense period of training and strategy development as the Atlas Lions prepare to take on their opponents and aim for success in the tournament.
