Oswin Appollis: Orlando Pirates winger linked with Strasbourg move
South African winger Oswin Appollis is being linked with a move from Orlando Pirates to French Ligue 1 club Strasbourg.
The 25-year-old joined Orlando Pirates from Polokwane City in July 2025 and played a role in the club’s successful 2025-26 campaign, when he won the South African championship, the South African Cup and the MTN8. He was also named the club’s Midfielder of the Year.
Appollis has made seven appearances in the Betway Premiership this season, scoring twice and providing two assists. He has also featured in the MTN8 and CAF Champions League, starting all three of his MTN8 matches and both of his Champions League appearances.
The left winger has additionally played in all four of South Africa’s World Cup matches listed this season, starting three of them. He has completed 71% of the available minutes in the tournament.
Appollis began his senior career with SuperSport United and spent time on loan at AmaTuks before moving permanently to Pretoria Callies in 2022. He subsequently joined Polokwane City, where his performances preceded the move to Orlando Pirates.
Strasbourg’s reported interest would represent a move into one of Europe’s leading domestic competitions for a player whose market value is listed at €2.5m. Appollis remains an Orlando Pirates player, with the proposed transfer yet to progress beyond the rumour stage.
