The Moroccan national football team has begun gathering at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maamoura, ahead of their crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifiers. Players started arriving early on Monday to join the training camp, which runs from September 2 to September 9, as the team prepares for back-to-back matches that will set the tone for their qualifying campaign.

The camp, located just outside Rabat, will host the Atlas Lions as they ready themselves for the first two matches in Group F.

Morocco will face Gabon on Friday, September 6, at the Grand Stade Agadir, followed by a match against Lesotho on September 9.

Both encounters are vital for the Moroccan side as they look to book their spot in the tournament set to take place in 2025.

Goalkeeper Benabid was the first player to check in at the Mohammed VI Complex, joined soon after by Mohamed El-Sheibi.

By Monday evening, the full squad is expected to be in camp and ready to start training as head coach Walid Regragui aims to sharpen his team ahead of the upcoming fixtures.

Morocco, currently ranked as one of Africa’s footballing powerhouses, are seen as strong contenders in the qualifying stages.

Coming off an impressive run at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where they reached the semifinals, the team is full of confidence.

The upcoming AFCON qualifiers represent the next chapter in their quest for continental dominance.

Regragui’s squad will be relying on star players like Achraf Hakimi and Hakim Ziyech to continue their fine form, while new talents and returning players aim to stake their claim for a spot in the final squad for the tournament in Morocco in 2025.

The matches against Gabon and Lesotho will offer valuable opportunities for experimentation and tactical adjustments as the team builds towards the main event.

The training camp in Maamoura provides a state-of-the-art facility for the national team to prepare.

The Mohammed VI Football Complex is widely regarded as one of the best training centers in Africa, offering cutting-edge resources for player development and recovery.

As players begin their training sessions under the watchful eye of Regragui, the focus will be on maintaining fitness, honing team chemistry, and perfecting the tactical plans that will be employed in the upcoming qualifiers.

Friday’s clash with Gabon at the Grand Stade Agadir promises to be an exciting affair, with Morocco eager to get off to a strong start in the qualifiers.

Gabon, though seen as the underdogs, are a team capable of causing an upset, and the Atlas Lions will need to be at their best to secure the three points.

The match against Lesotho, scheduled for September 9, will be equally important as Morocco seeks to solidify their position at the top of the group.

With preparations now in full swing, anticipation is building among Moroccan football fans as their national team embarks on the road to AFCON 2025.
